Lake Tahoe
Lake Tahoe is a beautiful weekend getaway for the California or Nevada locals living just hours away but for us East Coasters over here in Florida we don’t hear much about it. There are 2 distinct conglomerates, North & South Lake Tahoe. The reasons I prefer North Lake Tahoe have to do with better restaurant options, less people and an overall classier feel to all of the establishments. Most of the casinos are in South Lake Tahoe, however there is one nice casino on the north side in case you get the urge. (I did and it paid off!) Here’s the Casino’s info in case you want it.
Best Spots in Tahoe to Enjoy the Journey
- Drinks/Sunset Spot || Pier 111 Bar (Part of the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort) || You don’t have to stay at the hotel to enjoy this beautiful pier (more like dock) jutting out into the water with all the amenities of a tiki hut on the beach, only it’s at the end of the dock. Jump in a lounge chair and enjoy sunset in my favorite spot in Lake Tahoe.
- Food & Drinks/Sunset Spot || Gar Woods Grill & Pier || This is a staple in Tahoe and a must stop in my opinion. The atmosphere is perfect with an old renovated mansion lined with glass walls overlooking lakefront tables and one of the best vantage points for a Lake Tahoe sunset. ***Request an outside table and come for sunset for WET WEDNESDAY’S in the summer. Expect there to be a wait but part of the experience is enjoying 1 of their 7 different WOODY specialty cocktails at the often lively bar area.
- Food & Drinks || Caliente || Awesome Mexican restaurant in North Lake Tahoe with a rooftop patio and seating area. (I HIGHLY suggest you get a table on the rooftop.)
- Drinks || Captain Jon’s || Also a spot chosen for the ambiance. Russian servers take your order from tables out on what looks to be a built out dock. The benefit is you are literally eating over the water with a beautiful view of the lake.
- Casino || Grand Lodge Casino
