Shambhala Mountain Center
Just a 2-hour drive from Denver north through Fort Collins is an oasis in the mountains. Officially called the Shambhala Mountain Center, this 600-acre meditation retreat complex is the perfect way to spend a day of zen in a beautiful place tucked away in the Rocky Mountains. Free to enter, (donations welcome) this area is filled with trails, a campground, permanent living quarters and a food kitchen that prepares healthy, locally grown meals 3 times a day. The place has the feel of a commune, with full-time residents as well as retreat visitors and hotel guest. Anyone can rent out a room and/or other classrooms for your own retreat. So grab your yoga buddies and jump on one of the many cheap flights to Denver for a weekend retreat to calm the mind and soul. Namaste ?
