The Edge District – St. Pete
You don’t have to search very far to find many reasons why St. Petersburg, Florida is a beach and bay paradise, but upon closer inspection you can find some amazing arts and culture infused in a new up and coming district known as, “The Edge.”
Located near the Tampa Bay Rays (In St. Pete but somehow Tampa Bar lays claim) stadium is a cluster of great local restaurants, breweries, coffee houses and tons of other eclectic businesses. This culture seems infused with creatives as the streets are dotted with beautiful street art that gives a glimpse into the soul of the community.
I’m a lover of people, therefore I enjoy places that promote the gathering of happy people to enjoy the great Florida weather and in The Edge District, enjoy some amazing food and great local beer and art.
Matt’s Must Dos:
- Get lunch at Red Mesa Mercado. Some of the best authentic Mexican I’ve been able to find. Wash it down with a local beer from the brewery across the street, 3 Daughters Brewery.
- Walk next door to Green Bench Brewery. Green Bench has one of the best tasting rooms I’ve been in with an excellent side patio for hosting events like the baby gender reveal we saw while we were there. If you notice that looker in the corner that makes Betty White look like a bum, that’s my girl so hands off.
- BEST TIP: See if you can find the back alley street art gallery between Central and 1st Ave. I’ve tried to pinpoint the location here. (The videos and pictures speak for themselves.)
